Coming up:
Viktor Bernik, BOIL. May 10 - May 25, 2025
At KLET Contemporary, Viktor Bernik will present his newest work, Boil. At the centre of the work is a performance where the artist slowly cooks grains of caviar in a pot of water. This act, suspended between ritual and impossibility, asks nothing and explains little. It does not nourish, yet it insists on being witnessed. A kind of alchemy without promise, Boil lingers in the space between intention and effect, beauty and futility. The gallery becomes a site of quiet insistence—on doing something, even when everything resists being changed. There will also be drawings on display—wandering lines made without looking, created whilst reading, listening, watching, thinking, or even on the edge of sleep. These marks arise from an engagement with current events, theory, and philosophy—an effort to capture, however fleetingly, a glimpse of the potential for change. And then... there will also be drawings of caviar.. . . . .. . ... .. . ..... .. Paralyzed by our smallness and insignificance, we remain trapped between comfort and an overwhelming sense of impotence. We observe the world from the comfort of our sofas—we scroll, we mutter and we indulge in caviar socialism. Join us! |

Viktor Bernik (b. 1971, Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a contemporary artist based in Ljubljana whose work reflects on social realities and the ways images emerge in everyday life. He works across a range of media—including painting, drawing, video, graphics, installations, and events—often incorporating everyday materials such as receipts, official documents, and advertisements.
His work is characterized by humor, playfulness, and a fluid movement between abstraction and the concrete. Bernik blurs the boundaries between art and daily experience. His works are optimistic, sarcastic and poetic. |
ANGER
A creative workshop for children recommended age 5-7 May 24, 14:00-15:10 |
What do we do when we’re angry? Most of us scream.
Some of us stomp.
Others draw pictures of poop, pee, and farts.
At this workshop, we’ll do all of the above.
We’ll start with angry drawings: exploring emotions through lines, colors, and chaotic creativity.
Are soft, rounded lines ever angry?
Do jagged, sharp lines shout louder on the paper?
What happens when you paint a face in red and black—does it still look calm, or ready to explode?
Then, we’ll scream.
Right in the gallery. Together. Loudly.
We’ll also talk about dyptich, performance art and how anger has been expressed across different artistic movements. To wrap things up, we’ll create a small exhibition of our furious drawings.
Whether you’re quietly seething, calm and happy or ready to throw a chair--
Welcome.
